Making lists and checking them twice...

Things Linden wants to do in the UK:
  • Go to the London Tower.
  • Go to Westminster Abbey.
  • Go to Bath.
  • Go to a few concerts.
  • Go to Buckingham.
  • Go to Wales.
  • Go to Scotland (with Hannah-jan!)
  • Go fishing for Nessie (again with Hannah-jan!)
  • Get her picture taken with a good-looking British guard to placate a few of her friends....
  • Go to The Bird and Baby. Oh, I mean The Eagle and Child.
  • Visit C.S. Lewis' home.
  • Visit Austen's home.
  • Forget her umbrella and run in the rain. (Easily done...)
  • Say "Tut tut, it looks like rain" like Christopher Robin when it rains.
  • Get a new Winnie-the-Pooh book.
  • Reread all the Beatrix Potter books.
  • Write three poems a week.

Things Linden wants to do at college, first semester:
  • Go cowtipping. (Just kidding!)
  • Keep her grades up.
  • Pull an all-nighter with Andromache. (This'll be easy...)
  • Have a swing dance. (It was Hannah-jan's idea!)
  • Keep her title as the Library Girl.
  • Prove to everyone that Alaskans are pretty much the coolest ever.
  • Meet as many people as she can.
  • Spend some time with her cousins... and grandparents! :)
  • Collect leaves... and climb trees...
  • Go on a motorcycle ride. (Someone else driving- at this point...)

Things Linden shouldn't do again... (Always growing...)
  • Not write poetry after brain went into over-drive thinking philosophically about shades of reality...
  • Read murder mysteries when she's cold and it's grey outside and her coffee cup is empty.
  • Forget what she's doing and dump too much cream in her coffee till it tastes like caffienated milk.
  • Dance to Simon and Garfunkel and forget where the table is. (Ouch...)
  • Start singing in the car and moving to the beat... only to find out a bunch of people saw her driving...
  • Try writing Arabic symbols left-handed and backwards.
  • Call her friend's little brother Casanova. (Awkward...)
  • Play music so much that she starts quoting it without meaning to.
  • Write herself letters of admonishment and then find them five years later.
  • Play with pencil, doodle on self, while not paying attention. (I really don't know how I managed to doodle on my eye-lids without realizing it...)
  • Check if the milk is hot enough by dropping the thermometer in the boiling, frothing milk.
  • Realize that all these things were done either today or yesterday... because it damages her self-esteem.

  1. I've done 12 of the first set, yeah!
And you should also visit Tolkien's grave for me, and visit Agatha Christie's house, it's real pretty and by the sea to boot. And go to Garford road. 14 Garford? 17 Garford? Anyway, that's where I used to live ^_^
And you also have to pose in a phone booth.
As to doodling on self . . . girl, you should see me after lecture class. Or after drawing a picture.

  3. Okay... thanks. *adds to the list* I'll be in the phone-booth. You'll see that picture. (Hannah-jan's promised to take it...)

I'm glad to know that my besties can all still laugh at me. It's better to be absolutely ridiculous than to be absolutely boring, and to make people laugh than to make them yawn... :D

  4. Ummmmm. . . how many years will you be in England?? You've got quite a to-do list here, and I notice that doesn't include studies. :)

Hope it is a great time for you. I'm excited for you!

  5. Three and a half, four months. :) I know, I know... I'll study! But, honestly, some of my "to-dos" are part of what we will be doing as a class! And really, how much time does it take to say "TutTut! It looks like rain?" or buy a new Winnie-The-Pooh book? The longest thing would be Scotland/Wales, which Hannah-jan and I are planning on doing over the spring-break. :D
I know. *grumbles* I'll study too!

  6. Make sure you set up a scheduled itinerary before you visit Scotland/Wales; when I went we didn't, and so were unable to find the time to visit Scotland, instead spending our week-or-so trip in Wales alone. But Wales is beautiful. You should go see the White Horse carved into the hillside. And lots of amazing old castles.
Go to the English Warwick castle too, okay? That place is AMAZING. They have jousting and folks in costume and a troupe of minstrels and you can climb to the battlements and explore the whole castle, from tower-top to dungeon-pit. The castle's set up to look like it's still the middle ages, so it's really awesome.
Oh, and it's at the little town of Warwick, which sports the small pub 'The Angry Cheese'. Can't get much better than that.
